The future of Sattal’s lakes and forest in Uttarakhand's Nainital district are at a huge risk!

Home to over 525 varieties of butterflies and over 500 species of birds including The Red Headed Vulture (Critically Endangered), Cireneous Vulture (Near Threatened), Grey Crowned Prinia (Vulnerable), Pallas’s Fish Eagle (Endangered), as well as other flora and fauna like the King Cobra (Vulnerable), Himalayan Serow (Vulnerable), Foxtail Orchid (Endangered), the world’s largest moth - Atacus Atlas, Sattal is also a refuge to high quality oak-dominated hardwood forests (which are currently endangered in Kumaon region, due to pine invasion, fire and fragmentation), which need to be protected URGENTLY!

At an altitude of 4000 feet this exotic amalgamation of nature is at risk of being destroyed under the garb of ‘beautification’.

At an estimated cost of INR 6-7 Cr. there is a plan to ‘DEVELOP’ the area around the Sattal lakes and forest to make way for shops, parking, children’s park, view point, plantation, etc. All this under the veil of ‘LAKE SIDE DEVELOPMENT’ by government authorities.

This proposal has the potential to wreak havoc in the area and needs to be stopped NOW!

It is not about one project. It is about saving the home of thousands of species of flora and fauna.

We need the people’s power to request the authorities to declare Sattal a CONSERVATION RESERVE AND STOP ACTIVITY THAT WILL DESTROY THE ECOLOGY OF THE AREA.

ब्रिमेटो: ग्राफ्टिंग के माध्यम से एक ही पौधे में बैंगन और टमाटर का उत्पादन करने के लिए एक अभिनव तकनीक ड्यूल या मल्टीपल ग्राफ्टिंग एक नई तकनीकी है, जिसमें एक ही परिवार के दो या दो से अधिक वंशजों को एक पौधे से एक से अधिक सब्जियों को ग्राफ्ट किया जाता है। Brimato plant ICAR-भारतीय सब्जी अनुसंधान संस्थान, वाराणसी, उत्तर प्रदेश में ग्राफ्टेड पोमैटो (आलू + टमाटर) के सफल परीक्षण के बाद, 2020-21 में बैंगन और टमाटर (ब्रिमेटो) को सफलतापूर्वक ग्राफ्ट किया गया है। ग्राफ्टिंग ऑपरेशन के 15 से 18 दिनों के बाद ग्राफ्टेड पौधों को खेत में प्रत्यारोपित किया गया। प्रारंभिक विकास चरण के दौरान, बैंगन और टमाटर के वंशज दोनों में संतुलित विकास को बनाए रखने के लिए सावधानी बरती गई। इसके अलावा, यदि ग्राफ्टिंग यूनियन के तहत कोई शूट होता है, तो उसे तुरंत हटा दिया जाता है। बैंगन और टमाटर दोनों में रोपण के 60 से 70 दिनों में फल लगने लगे। प्रयोगात्मक निष्कर्षों से पता चला कि टमाटर/पौधे में 2.383 किलोग्राम उपज वाले लगभग 36.0 फलों की कटाई की गई, जबकि बैंगन में 2.684 किलोग्राम उपज 9.2 फलों/पौधों से प्राप्त की गई। ...

India’s biggest aromatic garden opened in Lalkuan

भारत के सबसे बड़े सुगंधित उद्यान का लालकुआं में उद्घाटन उत्तराखंड वन विभाग ने रविवार को नैनीताल जिले के लालकुआं में भारत के सबसे बड़े सुगंधित उद्यान का उद्घाटन किया. 3 एकड़ से अधिक के क्षेत्र में स्थापित इस उद्यान में पूरे भारत से सुगंधित पौधों की 140 विभिन्न प्रजातियां हैं। विभिन्न सुगंधित प्रजातियों के संरक्षण, जागरूकता पैदा करने, अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देने और इसे आजीविका से जोड़ने के उद्देश्य से जून 2018 में अनुसंधान सलाहकार समिति की मंजूरी के बाद वर्ष 2018-19 में परियोजना शुरू की गई थी। दो दशकों से अधिक समय से सुगंधित और औषधीय पौधों के क्षेत्र में काम कर रही वीना राव ने कहा, "एक सलाहकार के रूप में, राज्य वन विभाग की मदद से हम बगीचे को 45 हेक्टेयर तक विस्तारित करने की योजना बना रहे हैं। अगले चरण में हम इसे एक संरक्षण और प्रशिक्षण केंद्र के रूप में बनाएंगे जहां किसान आकार ट्रेनिंग ले सकते हैं।" परियोजना को केंद्र सरकार की CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority ) योजना के तहत वित्त पोषित किया गया है। लालकुआं को साइट के रूप में चुना गया ...
